So, you want to buy a new piece of original art for your living space, or wherever else you think needs to be spruced up? Original art costs so much money, typically in the multiple-thousands of dollar range. I get it, I want to do the same thing! that's why I chose metallic prints instead of trying to sell custom-canvas original works of my digital art! Often times, prints are easier on the art budget, and they look just as cool!

So, why is original art so expensive and has it always been? Short answers, I don't know and yes it has. Art has always been a great investment of people's time and money; and yet most Artist' prices never seems to meet us at our own financial levels; Unless of course we are investors flushed with cash...which we are not. The reason that art maintains its value over time, as well as appreciates even more as time moves on throughout the ages, depends on quite a few factors; it's availability, any cultural ideologies expressed within that art, something as simple as the level of fame that an Artist has achieved prior to or during their artistic explorations, and economic hardships.

Humans dictate how much value that a thing has, typically due to some form of mutual exchange that benefits both the buyer and the artist, or one or the other: you have what I want and I can give you this for that. This simplistic transaction sets the stage for something called intrinsic value, or rather, what that thing is worth to you, the buyer. For these reasons, Art seems to always maintain if not exceed its monetary value and availability throughout the ages. Art is powerful. It speaks to people on a subconscious level about their cultural taboos and accepted norms, it can be beautiful or horrific, but most of all, Art is a gateway to another world. A doorway or portal to a potentiality that the viewer can be transported away to in their imagination. Art can be a great escape from the doldrums of an otherwise mediocre life, and bring you back up from the depths of sorrow and regret. This is what gives Art its value.

So, when an Artist places an egregious amount of $$$ onto their art, whether in a gallery, or online, there must be a reason for it. Perhaps they are pricing the art so it does not sell. It could be the Artist's favorite piece. Also, some Artists decide on a price for their work based off of how long it took them to create, the amount of $$ used on the cost-of-goods, or even the placement of their Art into prestigious galleries. There are many reasons for high-priced Art in this world, and it's up to YOU as the buyer, to decide if that Art is for you and if the price is fair.
