The internet is dead! At least, that is the theory postulated by several people ('illuminatiPirate') that believe organic human interaction on the actual internet itself, is not as widespread and populated as we have been led to believe. I can see it as a possibility. It does seem that although we show millions of "hits" on our Google search queries, it all could be manipulated into just a few corrals of information and the rest are dead links and digitally curated algorithm prisons.

This theory emerged circa 2016-2017 apparently and currently with all of the bot activity in the world more especially with the influx of chatbots and Ai tech, this theory might actually be closer to reality than the original posit in 2016. I have always felt like the big search engines like Google and Bing never really give you all of the hit results, especially if they are controlling the flow of information. Maybe it is political or religious leaning, or something that counteracts the "norm" to search for or it sows the seeds of dissent. I'm not quite sure the motivating factors.

It all seems like we are living in a digital format of Plato's Cave. Spoon-fed information on the digital chaste highways. Were we ever really going to be given full power over Darpa-Net? I doubt it, even though it was released to the public in the early days and became the internet as we know it. It's always been controlled and bottle-necked.

This is not surprising in the least! If I were to have control over the internet and wanted to keep the population of "users" corralled to a specific area with limited information, I would just connect them to "nodes" of regurgitated information that loosely connects them to their original queries. Maybe that is what is happening? Do you ever feel like you truly get the search results that you want whenever you hop on Google to do some digging?
